#69: ITL’s Jean Schembri Hits Cadet World Championship In Fujairah

Malta recorded a historic participation in the Cadet Taekwondo World Championships with Jean Schembri, who played in the men’s -41 kg division.

Together with coach Ditmir Vodinaj, they attended the event in Fujairah, UAE, in the week of the 10th till the 15th May, 2025.

At the astounding Zayed Sports Complex, Jean faced off against Taipei in match 401 of day five of the knockout event.

Despite months of disciplined preparation, the result didn’t go our way on the occasion, with a round-score loss of 0:2.

The young ITL athlete, regardless, showed incredible heart throughout, scoring on multiple occasions against his opponent.

We would like to congratulate team Malta on its performance at the Cadet World Championship. To Jean, Ditmir, and their respective teams for setting the bar once again.
