#80: New Local Club Strive Launches Training Camp, Collaborating With Local Clubs

Drenched in sweat, powered by grit, nothing beats the energy of a local Maltese teams when they band together!

From the 11th to the 13th of July, Strive Taekwondo Club hosted its first-ever Summer Sparring Camp at its Ħamrun dojang. This exciting new initiative brought together nearly 70 athletes from three local clubs—Iron Taekwondo League, Birżebbuġa Taekwondo Club, and the newly formed Strive Club, run by coach Mauro Busuttil and his team.

“We’re proud to have launched this new club tradition and look forward to many more editions in the years to come,” said coach Mauro in a statement. “Together, we strive to be better.”

The camp was a celebration of local collaboration, with athletes of all ages and levels training side by side, pushing each other to be better.

“A special thank you goes to Coach Gianluca Barbara of Iron Taekwondo League, who led two outstanding sessions that were both insightful and inspiring,” added Coach Mauro.”

“His dedication and support were instrumental in making this camp a success.”

“We are also deeply grateful to the Malta Taekwondo Association for their support. A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Anna Vassallo, MTA President, for her guidance and for officially opening the camp, and to General Secretary Joanna Scicluna for her presence and encouragement throughout the weekend.”

All athletes showed incredible focus, discipline, and enthusiasm—listening attentively, training hard, and embracing every moment.

The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter, determination, and the unmistakable sound of nearly 70 athletes training together. It was more than just a camp—it was a celebration of camaraderie, growth, and the power of coming together as a community.
