#101: The B.E.S.T. Project Webinar: Healthy Lifestyles and the Role of Home and School

As part of the ongoing activities of the B.E.S.T. Project, an initiative developed through the collaboration between F.I.T.A. (Federazione Italiana Taekwondo) and the Malta Taekwondo Association (M.T.A.), a series of educational webinars has been launched to support the introduction of Taekwondo in schools.

The first webinar in this series was delivered by Gianluca Barbara, Maltese National Taekwondo Coach, under the title:

“Healthy Lifestyles: The Power of a Healthy Home and a Healthy School on Students.”

This webinar focused on the essential role that both family and school environments play in shaping children’s physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Emphasis was placed on how sport — and Taekwondo in particular — can act as a powerful educational tool when supported by healthy daily routines, positive role models, and structured learning environments.

Key themes addressed during the session included the development of healthy habits from an early age, the importance of consistency between home and school values, and the role of Taekwondo in promoting discipline, respect, self-control, and long-term wellbeing. The webinar also highlighted how schools and sports organisations can work together to reinforce positive lifestyle choices that extend beyond the training hall.

This educational activity forms part of the Erasmus+ Sport-funded B.E.S.T. Project, which aims to promote cooperation, knowledge sharing, and best practices across Europe. Through initiatives such as this webinar, the project continues to strengthen its mission of integrating Taekwondo into school systems in a meaningful, educational, and sustainable way.
