Maltese taekwondo was represented on one of the Mediterranean region’s biggest sporting stages as 17-year-old Alycia Cassar competed in the Women’s -67kg category at the XX Mediterranean Games – Taranto 2026, accompanied by her coach, Gianluca Barbara.

The Malta Taekwondo Association proudly congratulates Dr Karen Zammit Southernwood on her appointment to the European Taekwondo Union (ETU) Safeguarding and Integrity Committee for the 2026–2027 term.

Malta proudly took part in the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) held in Skopje, Macedonia, marking another important step forward for Maltese Taekwondo on the international stage. Representing Malta in this prestigious youth event were two young athletes from the Malta Taekwondo Association's elite development programme: Alycia Cassar and Michela Scerri.
